ABOUT US. Community of Christ in Ellsworth was organized 70 years ago this November 5, 2022. Members first met on Main Street in Ellsworth. Purchase of the present property at 283 State Street was in 1956. The church facility was completed by 1964. A sizable handicap accessible addition, including a large fellowship hall, kitchen, 2 bathrooms with showers, & expanded parking lot, was completed in 2004.

ABOUT US.  We are a warmly welcoming, all-inclusive, deeply caring Christian community that centers on Jesus Christ, our Risen Lord & Savior, our Constant Companion & Friend. The worth of all persons is a priceless “enduring principle” here! We at ECC uphold & restore the worth of all people individually & in community, challenging unjust systems that diminish human worth! Our church seal features the lion, the lamb, & the child (Isaiah 11:6) with the word PEACE that speaks to our ceaseless efforts & ambition to seek peace in all we do & say & to seek God’s kingdom that we call Zion.

We are a diverse, worldwide fellowship of Christian believers. We are a prophetic people, discerning the signs of our times, as the Holy Spirit give insight & wisdom. We are a people characterized by an uncommon devotion to the compassion & peace of Jesus Christ. Our local church, hand-in-hand with the worldwide church, stands for “reaching out” through compassionate ministries that serve the poor & hungry, that halt conditions that diminish the worth of all persons & all creation.

ABOUT US.  And, at Community of Christ in Ellsworth, we lean into the Spirit to discern what God is doing & to see just how we can be part of it! God is all about possibilities! Jesus speaks to us today: “With God, all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26). The Lord’s Prayer & the Mission Prayer animate our outreach ministries! We proclaim Jesus Christ & reach out to others in our witness. We are just now discerning what God is about & how God wants both our energy & enthusiasm active in this outreach vision! Theologian Eugene Peterson, translator of the Bible, The Message, put it this way: “If people can’t see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves; but when they attend to what god reveals, they are most blessed.” (Proverbs 29:18)

(Hebrews 11:1) This vision of outreach & peace-centered community living energizes & inspires! It brings like-minded people together in unity & purpose.
